Sustainability Research Center for Scientific Innovation, Continuing Education, and Outreach
South Carolina Algae LLC is working to establish a research center dedicated to scientific innovation and ongoing education that promotes environmentally sustainable solutions to contemporary environmental issues. It is collaborating with Dr. Geoff Scott of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of South Carolina to help initiate these initial research projects and help develop this center. Our facilities at South Carolina Algae LLC welcome students at all academic levels to propose and pursue new projects and hypotheses for theses, dissertations, research projects, or class assignments. Research focus should be on contemporary environmental issues along with innovative, sound science mitigation strategies that will lead to ecologically sustainable approaches for environmental management. Additionally, students have the opportunity to conduct field-work alongside their studies and contribute to our initiatives focused on addressing harmful algal bloom remediation and manure reprocessing.
Current Research Areas of Focus:
Algal Bloom Remediation:
- Addressing algal blooms.
- Developing methods for the prevention and control of harmful algal blooms.
- Promoting aquatic health and safety through innovative research and practical solutions.
Manure Reprocessing:
